Riding To Cure MS

The Selma Cyclepaths formed a team for Bike MS — a fundraising ride that changes the world for people affected by multiple sclerosis. MS is a devastating, unpredictable disease. Every mile they pedal and every dollar they raise brings us closer to a world free of MS.

At Flowers Plantation we are proud to support Selma Cyclepaths. Along with their many sponsors they have raised over $2,000,000 since the inception of the cycling club. On September 7th and 8th, 45 of the Selma Cyclepaths will participate in BikeMS New Bern. It is a ride sponsored by the National MS Society to raise funds for and awareness about the disease - Multiple Sclerosis.

Their fundraising goal this year is $70,000. Four of their teammates ride with MS and many of them have relatives/friends who live with the disease.  Finding a cure is near and dear to their hearts!

The second goal of the Selma Cyclepaths is to promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling and friendship.  The Cyclepaths have organized rides each Saturday (weather permitting) that start at Thanksgiving Elementary School, just down the road from Flowers Plantation.  Routes are shared on Ride with GPS and start time is determined by the weather.  Any cyclist is welcome to join them.  For information on weekly rides and sign-up link, please visit their website  www.selmacyclepaths.org, go to ‘Rides’ and drop down to ‘Next Ride Event’. The Selma Cyclepaths will be sponsoring a ride during Selma Railroad Days for the 3rd year in a row.  This year’s ride will take place on Saturday October 5th.

Check out their website for details and to sign up. Midweek rides generally take place on Tuesday mornings (weather permitting) on the Neuse River Trail.  For more information about midweek rides please email.

Selma Cyclepaths ride at various cycling events throughout the year.  Their members have participated in the NC Coastal ride, the Mountains to Coast ride, Ride across Georgia, Raven Rock Ramble, Le Toure de Femme, Firecracker Ride, Cup n Cone, Spring Fling, Tip2Tip & more. They’d love to have you join them.  Please check out their website and ride with them!
