Message from the Director of Community Safety

“As the Director of Community Relations & Community Safety for Flowers, my primary focus is helping create a vibrant, connected, and welcoming community where residents feel engaged, supported, and proud to call home. While promoting safety and well-being remains an important part of our mission, we are equally committed to fostering meaningful connections among neighbors and enhancing the overall quality of life throughout our community.

Our Community Safety Team serves as a visible, approachable resource dedicated to supporting residents through service, outreach, education, and community engagement. We believe that strong communities are built on relationships, trust, and open communication, and we strive to be a positive presence that residents can rely on every day.

One of our key priorities is creating opportunities for neighbors to connect. Through community events, educational programs, volunteer initiatives, safety workshops, family activities, and resident outreach efforts, we aim to bring people together and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes Flowers such a special place to live. Whether we’re hosting a CPR class, participating in a neighborhood gathering, supporting a community event, or simply checking in with residents, our goal is to build lasting relationships and encourage an active, engaged community.

As Flowers continues to grow, we remain committed to collaborating with our local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services partners while maintaining a strong focus on resident engagement and community support. By working together, we can continue to create an environment where families thrive, neighbors know one another, and residents feel connected to the community around them.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to service, professionalism, transparency, and accessibility. My door is always open, and I welcome your ideas, feedback, and involvement. Together, we can continue building a community that is not only safe, but also connected, welcoming, and vibrant for generations to come.

I look forward to meeting more of our residents, supporting community initiatives, and helping create opportunities that bring people together and strengthen the spirit of Flowers.”

Warm regards,
W. Ryan Jordan

Flowers, NC

At Flowers, we are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and connected community through our dedicated Community Safety Team.

Our team is made up of experienced professionals from a variety of public service backgrounds, including retired and off-duty law enforcement officers, security specialists, firefighters, and medical personnel. Together, they bring decades of experience, a service-oriented mindset, and a shared commitment to supporting residents and visitors. Every team member is CPR-certified and equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), allowing them to provide immediate assistance during medical emergencies. To further enhance transparency and accountability, our staff also utilizes donated body-worn cameras as part of their daily operations. Whether assisting residents, responding to emergencies, supporting community events, or helping address safety concerns, our Community Safety Team serves as a visible, approachable resource dedicated to promoting the well-being, security, and quality of life of everyone who calls Flowers home.

By bringing these skilled professionals in-house, Flowers is able to provide an expanded range of community services, resident programs, and safety initiatives while ensuring our team members are among the most highly trained professionals in the area. Many members of our Community Safety Team are Flowers residents themselves, creating a neighbor-to-neighbor approach that emphasizes service, accessibility, and community engagement.

Beyond their safety responsibilities, team members assist in maintaining the welcoming appearance of our neighborhoods, common areas, and commercial districts. We proudly offer complimentary Car Seat Inspections conducted by certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians to help protect our youngest residents, and our certified CPR instructors host multiple training sessions each year, giving neighbors the confidence and skills to respond during emergencies.

Our Community Safety Team maintains a visible and approachable presence throughout Flowers, traveling by vehicle, golf cart, and on foot to assist residents, monitor community amenities, identify maintenance concerns, and provide support when needed. The team helps oversee approximately 30 miles of paved sidewalks, numerous private roads, more than 50 miles of berms and buffers, and all community-managed properties to help ensure these shared spaces remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone. Team members also promote the safe operation of golf carts through education, registration assistance, and community outreach efforts.

Partnership and collaboration are central to our mission. We work closely with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Johnston County Emergency Services, and North Side Fire Department to coordinate resources, support emergency preparedness efforts, and host community safety and educational events. Together, these partnerships help make Flowers one of North Carolina’s most desirable and family-friendly communities.

Community Safety Team members are available day and night to assist residents and respond to concerns. They can be reached at 919-500-8476.
